Offender Registry is done in Douglas County weekly: Every Wednesday from 7am to 11am at the Douglas County Correctional Facility. Offenders must report updates in person. Click here if you want to conduct a search of the Kansas Registered Offenders List The following is a copy of the requirements of the Kansas Offender Registration Act- ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE OFFENDER - I UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING: 1. I have been convicted of a crime that requires registration under the Kansas Offender Registration Act, K.S.A. 22-4901 et seq., hereafter referred to as “the Act”, and must honor all duties specified by the Act. 2. Within ten (10) days of entering into any county where I reside on a full-time, part-time, or temporary basis for more than ten (10) days, I must register with the sheriff of the county. 3. I must also register in every Kansas county in which I am employed, carry on a vocation, or am a student. 4. If I have completed my registration with anyone other than the sheriff of the county where I reside, I must verify that the sheriff has received that registration within ten (10) days of entering the county. 5. If I change my address, I must give written notice to the sheriff’s office where I last registered and to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) within ten (10) days of the change. 6. I am required to report three times a year in person to the sheriff’s office in the county where I reside or am otherwise located to include any Kansas county where I am required to register. After initial registration, I must report in the month of my birthday and every fourth and eighth month occurring after my birthday. Each time I report, I must be photographed, pay a registration fee of $20, and verify my address, place of employment, any and all email addresses or online identities that I currently use, all of my vehicle information, and whether I am attending a school or educational institution. 7. I am required to immediately renew any Kansas driver’s license or state identification card issued to me, and I must annually renew such license or identification card on or before my birthday. The driver’s license and identification card shall indicate that I am a registered offender. 8. I am required to register for ten (10) years if this is my first adult conviction for an offense included in the Act unless a longer term is specified or present term limits are amended by statute. This time period does not include any time incarcereated in any jail or correctional facility or any time period of non-compliance with the requirements of the Act. If I am convicted as an adult of a second or subsequent offense(s) covered by the Act, I will be required to register for life. I must register for life if I am declared to be a sexually violent predator pursuant to K.S.A. 59-29a01 et seq. I must register for life if I am convicted of Rape pursuant to K.S.A. 21-3502 (a)(1)(A) or K.S.A. 21-3502 (a)(2), or of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy pursuant to K.S.A. 21-3506 (a)(1), K.S.A. 21-3506(a)(2), and K.S.A. 21-3506 (a)(3)(A). I must register for life if I am convicted of any of the following crimes and the victim was less than 14 years of age: Aggravated Trafficking (K.S.A. 21-3447), Aggravated Indecent Liberties With a Child (K.S.A. 21-3504(a)(3). Promoting Prostitution (K.S.A. 21-3513), and Sexual Exploitation of a child (K.S.A. 21-3516(a)(5) or (a)(6). Any conviction for an attempt, conspiracy or solicitation requires registration for the same term as the underlying offense. 9. If I reside in the state of Kansas on a full-time, part-time, or temporary basis and have been convicted in another state where I was required to register under that state’s laws, or if I have been convicted of an offense comparable to a Kansas law that requires registration, I shall register for the same length of time required either by that state or by Kansas requirements, whichever term is longer. I must report to the sheriff’s office in the county where I am residing within ten (10) days to complete a registration form. 10. If adjudicated as a juvenile and required to register by law or by court order, I must register until eighteen (18) years of age, or for five (5) years from the date of adjudication or release from confinement, whichever date occurs later. This time period does not include time incarcerated in any jail, juvenile facility or correctional facility or any time period of non-compliance with the requirements of the Act. As a juvenile, the court may order that my registration not be an open record displayed on the public website. In such cases, it is my duty to provide a copy of the court order to the sheriff at the time of registration. 11. If I am discharged or paroled from a prison, hospital, or other institution or facility, the staff of the facility will collect my registration information prior to my release. Within ten (10) days of coming into a county where I reside on a full-time, part-time, or temporary basis, I must verify with the sheriff’s office that the sheriff has received my registration form and information. 12. If I am being released on probation, have received a suspended sentence, have been sentenced to community corrections, or have been released on post release supervision, the court will collect my registration information. Within ten (10) days of coming into a county where I reside on a full-time, part-time, or temporary basis, I must verify with the sheriff’s office that the sheriff has received my registration form and information. 13. If I enroll with a school or educational institution and that school or educational institution is not located in my state or county of residence, I must additionally register with the sheriff’s office in that jurisdiction within ten (10) days of the commencement of the school term. If there is any change in my attendance, including termination, I must give written notice to the sheriff’s office in that county and to the KBI within ten (10) days of such change. 14. If I am employed, with or without compensation, outside of my state or county of residence for more than fourteen (14) days, or for an aggregated period of thirty (30) days in a calendar year, I must additionally register with the sheriff’s office in the county of my employment within ten (10) days upon commencement of employment. 15. If I become enrolled in any school or educational institution of higher education in Kansas on a full-time, part-time, or temporary basis or have any sort of full-time, part-time, or temporary employment at an institution of higher education in Kansas, with or without compensation, for more than fourteen (14) days or for an aggregate period exceeding thirty (30) days in a calendar year, I must provide written notice to the to the KBI within ten (10) days upon commencement of enrollment or employment. If there is any change in attendance or employment, including termination, I must give written notice to the KBI within ten (10) days of such change. 16. If I change my residence to another state, I must inform the sheriff’s office in the Kansas county where I resided and last registered and the KBI of my change of residence and must register in the new state within ten (10) days. 17. If I fail to register, fail to update my registration, provide any false information or otherwise violate any requirement of the Act, I have committed a Severity Level Five (5) Person Felony. A new and separate offense of non-compliance will occur every 30 days that have elapsed until such time as I comply with the law. |
