In an effort to help with family reintegration the Douglas County Corrections Division provides inmate's with opportunities to visit with family and friends.

No Visitation


Approved visitors may be any age. Children up to 17 years of age must have a parent or guardian present during visitation and are limited to one per parent or guardian. The only exception is if a second child is an infant confined to a car seat/carrier.

Inmates are responsible for signing up on the visitation schedule and notifying visitors of date and time of visit. Housing Unit Officers will confirm these names with the inmate’s criminal history number (CHN) file to see if there are any No Contact orders. If the name of a Juvenile visitor matches the initials on a Juvenile No Contact order, no visit shall take place. Those with No Contact orders will be denied a visit.

Visitation dates and times are subject to change or cancellation without notice if situations arise that compromise the safety and/or security of the facility, staff, inmates and/or visitors.

Visitors will report to the Lobby Officer to confirm the visit and be processed.

All visitors must produce a current and valid government issued identification (ie: state issued ID, driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc).

All visitors will sign the visitor book.

All visitors will successfully pass through a security checkpoint before the visit. If need arises, visitors may be scanned with a handheld detector. If you are unable to clear the security checkpoint, a more thorough search of your person may be requested. The Shift Supervisor may authorize a same-sex frisk if the handheld detector fails to detect the alerting object. This search will be conducted in private. If the visitor still fails to clear security, the Shift Supervisor may deny the visit. At any time, a visitor may choose to refuse the frisk search; refusal will result in being denied visitation by the Shift Supervisor.

Inmate visitation will last no longer than 30 minutes. Tardiness is subtracted from the visitation time.

Hand-carried items will be left in the visitor lockers, except for approved infant or health care items. Cameras, pagers, cellular telephones and other electronics are prohibited and may be confiscated. Visitors are encouraged to leave personal property in their vehicles.

All visitors must behave in a responsible manner.

Visitation may be denied, cancelled and/or suspended if the visitor:

• is wearing clothing deemed inappropriate by the Lobby Officer;
• uses obscene or profane language;
• violates facility rules;
• is under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs;
• refuses to submit to a search, refuses to pass through the metal detector or to be scanned with the handheld detector;
• fails to prevent children from disturbing others within the facility.

At the conclusion of the visit, the visitor will return to the lobby and sign out with the Lobby Officer.
