Financial Literacy


JOB TITLE:      Inmate Financial Literacy Program

OBJECTIVE:    Provide inmates with basic financial literacy skills by conducting group instruction and education sessions in budgeting, credit and debt, checking and savings, taxes and EITC and other financial-literacy related areas that may arise from requests from the population.

WORKSITE:    Correctional Facility, various housing units (which may include inmates from maximum to minimum security, and work release housing units)

TIMEFRAME:     Generally, two hours per week, although flexible dependent upon curriculum used. A 6 month commitment is preferred.


1. Experience in finances, business or other fiscal-related field;

2. Experience in group instructional work;

3. Attend 2 hour volunteer orientation;

4. Pass criminal background screening;

5. Complete volunteer application with references;

6. Sign confidentiality agreement.
